Reading – Zero to One by Peter Thiel

This morning the topic hiring and scaling teams keeps popping into my head. After attending many startup and entrepreneur groups, I have heard (innumerable times) people ask questions about when to hire. I am a proponent of keeping teams and infrastructure lean. I hear entrepreneurs talk about hiring in front of growth to accelerate. At least growth is the justification. I see ego hiring.

If you hire during growth, an entrepreneur, at least in part, becomes a manager. Startups, similar to any small business, do not have the burdened luxury of single function jobs. Entrepreneurs need multi-talented people with broad knowledge and deep expertise in a relevant subject.

As we grow, how will Red Blue Collective address growing the team?

How do I stay focused on building content and engaging the community?

How do we stay lean?
